I had the karaoke version long before I heard the original. I discovered it by mistake when I watched the movie. I was floored. All that time I had the music and didn't know it. What a sad story that was. R.I.P. Lane.

my wife and i danced to this song at our wedding in 1996. my parents my in-laws and all of the grand parents also joined us on the dance floor. beautiful song and i always play it for my wife on our wedding anniversary. karla your voice is wonderful and you sang a very beautiful song!

In 1994 the song came in at #38 in th Adult Contemporary Charts as part of the sound track for 8 Seconds. It was written by Karla Bonoff and Wendy Waldman. Wendy wrote 'Save The Best For Last' with Phil Galdston and Joe Lind. They began that adventure back in '89 and it became a hit for Vanessa reaching #1 in March 1992.
Keith Thomas arranged and produced both songs which would explain the 'familiarness'.
