What is a Talpatar Sepoy?
A Talpatar Sepoy is a puppet made of paper or palm leaves. It's a popular handcrafted toy from rural Bengal. The hands and legs of the puppet are loosely held by a stick. When twirled, the puppet throws its arms and legs around in a frantic manner.
Objective
Julian Day School authorities began aerobics classes for children. The aim was to communicate the same and generate enthusiasm amongst the students.
Activation
Talpatar Sepoys were distributed in every class by respective class-teachers.
The puppets were an instant hit as the kids began to play with them and took them home as the day ended.
Result
The message -- 'Get Flexible -- Join aerobics classes' was successfully conveyed to the children and their parents, leading to 90% of the students enrolling in the aerobics classes.
Intriguing. Good use of medium!
