It took quite a few years for Roger to find success, but when he did it came almost all at once. Between the 4th of July, 1964 beginning with "Dang Me" and for the next 18 months, Roger put eight songs into the Top 40 and half of those into the Top 10 (only the Beatles accomplished a similar feat during this decade over an 18 month period). His biggest success was with "King of The Road" in Feb, of 1965, but a few months later he followed it up with this song, "Engine, Engine #9", which peaked at #7 in May of that year.
how could anyone not like Roger? wait, that like button just ain't strong enough, need a LOVE IT button to click.

Brilliant! The guy's a combination of country/ jazz/ honky tonk/ tin pan alley... One of America's best. Scary clever with a sweet sense of humor and sentiment. Thanks!
