Here's the first of Woodbourne action from November 24th. The night started off pretty active, with a huge lull for about 3 hours, with a great ending. I didn't film most of the SEPTA trains tonight, so don't give me any crap about it.

First is SEPTA 4257 heading south through Woodbourne with the usual Silverliner II's and III's for this train.
4257 - West Trenton, NJ - Wilmington, DE
SEPTA Silverliner II's 9007, 237, 206 and 267

NS 14G is next up, creeping east on the Morrisville Line with a short train, but a nice leader.
14G - Conway, PA - Morrisville, PA
NS SD70 2575
NS CW40-9 9444

After 14G, I ran to get Q191-24 going up the Wood Connecting Track with to Downrated GEVO's pulling a short train.
Q191 - North Kearney, NJ - Philadelphia, PA intermodel
CSX ES40DC 5375

SEPTA 6378 heads north through Woodbourne with a quick honk on the K5LA horn.
6378 - Philadelphia, PA - West Trenton, NJ
SEPTA Cab Car 2401
SEPTA AEM-7 2302
5:36 PM

Out of nowhere, CSX C764-24 pulls out of Woodbourne Yard and creeps up the Trenton Line to the Signal at CP Wood, where it will wait for SEPTA 376 to clear, and then head north for a rare nigh-time run to Skillman, NJ. It's great that Woodbourne finally has some new yard power!
C764 - Woodbourne, PA - Skillman, NJ and return

CSX 2620 was one of the Geeps in Woodbourne back in December of 2008.

SEPTA 376 heads north through Woodbourne with four Silverliner IV's and some horn.
376 - Elwyn, PA - West Trenton, NJ
5:48 PM

Next we see NS 17G head west on the Morrisville Line as SEPTA 6378 heads under the MORL with some horn from the best engineer.
17G - Morrisville, PA - Conway, PA mixed freight

  • Also, 257 is the car that had the fire on November 4. Was it back in service only 20 days later?

  • Oh, I must have typed that wrong, I meant 267, I think 257 isn't running anymore.

  • I've ridden 4257 the past two Fridays (11/27 and 12/4) and noticed that it was made up of II's and III's. I thought it was just a coincidence, but your description implies that it happens fairly regularly for this train. On 11/27, there were only two cars, probably because a lot of people didn't work that day, but one of them was Silverliner II 269 with "Pennsylvania" on both sides. On 12/4, one of the four cars was an ex-Airport car with 2x2 seating.

  • Exactly.

  • I see what you mean. However, I don't mind as much if a horn is actually in need of a replacement. I guess the problem is that CSX seems to like replacing perfectly fine RS3Ls.

  • Don't get me wrong I like them, but not when CSX goes around and replaces older horns with them.

  • I suppose. Then again, I'm not very picky about horns, so I probably would like a newer K5LA just as much.

  • Thanks, we're lucky that CSX didn't stick a new cast K5LA on 2620.

  • Nice vid. 2620 has an amazing K5LA!:)
