    The 6.5x284 is good for about 1000 rounds. I've heard people getting 1700 out of a barrel, but count on 1000. Anything over that is a bonus. You can either "take back" the barrel an inch or buy a new barrel. If you decide to take the barrel back, do it before accuracy goes south. That will extend the life of the new shorter barrel.

    If you want accuracy and barrel life go with the 6mm BR. Not as good at 1000 yards but it'll shoot the lights out at 600 yards.

  • can i ask you where you where aiming on those shots I might be build a 6.5x284 and is it vital to let the barrel cool?
