IMO, Dave's solo was an important factor in setting Sum 41 apart from other bands of the same genre. Of course I'm still a Sum 41 fan and will always be, but I do miss Dave's solo.

i'm sorry, but Underclass Hero was a horrible album..although Screaming Bloody Murder brought Sum back to where they should be.

Dave left Sum because Deryck wanted to make a pop punk album- Underclass Hero while Dave wanted to make a more of a metal and hard rock album and stay true to his roots.
