Biography
--------------------------------------
Our youth mission is to continue to live according to the words and teachings of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and to spread that good news throughout the community. We are always striving to learn more and seek God to the fullest of our capacity. As we help ourselves to become stronger soldiers in the army of Christ, we will in turn be able to minister to others who are in need of guidance. One way we spread the love of Jesus Christ is through the ministry of our Youth Choir. We believe that no one is too young to be a disciple. In the late 1980's the H.E.B.C youth was formed. Brother Tinesse originally presided over our youth, followed by Brother Emmanuel Polection. In 1991 Brother Robert Antoine took over the youth and held the reins for over a decade. As president Brother Robert helped reinforce, strengthen, and guide the youth spiritually, emotionally, and socially. He is still an intricate piece to our youth group today as he serves on our Support Committee. In 2003 the father of our youth (Brother Robert), stepped aside and gave way to Brother Rekenson. For three years Brother Rekenson presided as the youth president. It proved to be a pivitol point in the expansion of our youth as we transitioned into a new era. The change from an established elder as our leader; to a young youth gave way for maturity and new horizons. After three years Sister Esther Jeantel was elected as our new youth president, and Brother Phillippe Paul became Vice-President. During Sister Esther's tenure, the youth grew in number, and continued to fight the good fight. In 2007 Sister Youseline Francois was elected into office. She became the sixth president of our youth, and Brother Marc Antoine would be her Vice-President. We have a youth committee which includes Sister Anne (Secratary), Sister Jemima (Treasurer), and Sister Ikiese (Choir Director). Our Committee of support includes Brother Robert, Brother Benjamin, Sister Robert, Sister Caronne, Sister Mirielle, and Sister Solange. This is where we stand today. Currently our youth is alive and well by the blessings and graces of God. We have accomplished many goals and passed numerous milestones during our existence. Some of our musical influences include (but are not limited to) Richard Smallwood, Haitian Mass, Tye Tribbett & Greater Anointing, Kirk Franklin, and Natalie Wilson & S.O.P. Our unique style reflects the originality of our choir director, Ikiese Diasonama, who came to Haitian Evangelical Baptist Church in 2000. Ikiese, a native-born of Zaire (now the Democratic Republic of Congo), has been adopted into the Haitian Community and participates in numerous events and church-related activities across the Philadelphia Tri-State area. A singer / song-writer / dancer, Ms. Diasonama is multi-talented and fluently proficient in 4 languages (English, French, Haitian-Creole, and Lingala). As the primary song-writer for The Haitian Evangelical Youth Choir; her leadership, expertise, experience, and devotion to our youth is unparalleled and truly sets us apart in our ministry. We ask that you keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we try to lead by example. To God be the glory, and the praise! The Haitian Evangelical Baptist Church Youth is honored and blessed by your presence and we pray that you are encouraged, inspired, and blessed as you view our YouTube Page.
