Lilly never really loved Zach but was infatuated by his flattery. He was mesmerized with her beauty and hasty to wed. When her dreams of being a principle dancer failed, she sought matrimonial refuge. Now, about 10 yrs into the marriage she loathes her husbands touch. Her demeanor towards Maxi tells me she didnt want a 2nd child. With no outlet for her own passion or interest in the family business, she became a bored, desperate housewife. The perfect set-up for a rogue like Cutter.

As another user said, her coldness to her daughter was because she didnt really want another child . However, in part, the reason for the coldness was that she saw her younger self in her and she wanted tospare her the disappointment she went through when her parents in their affection left her dreaming about being prima ballarina, only to land face first in th reality that she wasn't good enough for this. So, she completely does not show affection to her...

@krysabychok not defending anyone here, but Nina made her choice by completely cutting out the possibility of ever mathering a child. a pwerful woman like she COULD have a career and a family if she wanted to. Zach felt exactly that and that's why he married Lily. Lily did not really loved him, that;s why she turned into that iceburg later on.

The first time I noticed Francesca Annis was in David Lynch's DUNE. I thought she was fascinating.  I think she's great in this movie, too. Thank you LB for all of your wonderful videos.
