Your knees are never the same as what God gave you after a substantial injury & subsequent surgery, If you are able to function relatively pain free, it is worth it. Replacement procedures & products are getting better & lasting longer. I am up for a double replacement myself. And yes, I am putting it off as long as I can. When I can't deal with the pain any longer, I will get replacement. Find a great surgeon, lose weight .prepare yourself mentally & physically. Recovery will be much faster!

surely you must be kidding. the healing process can go on for a year and the advice of surgeons is definitely not to jog.

i have just undergone a double knee replacement and i simply do not understand how you can even think that far ahead, there is a great deal of trauma to the soft tissue and the nerves that simply takes time to heal.

you should get an attitude adjustment before moving forward with the procedure.

First week after operation is a bit painfull, but then every week is beter. You can walk with crutches the second day after operation, well, not that you can, you must hehe :) The scar is as big as it is, someone has smaller, someone bigger, but you can find things in pharmacy that helps you with that.

Sorry again, but health and "no pain" is more important than apperance, if you don't know that yet, mabie your knee is not so bad after all.

Everyone here with knee problems i wish good luck

it is not a "bit painful" it hurts like hell and it is not manageable without hardcore narcotics. maybe you just hav an unusually high pain threshold.must learn to work through the pain especially during PT. PT can last up to 12 weeks or more and the work at home while alone is even more important.

Hey, i ment to say one thing, and i wrote another. You're right it does hurt and it is painfull, but you don't have a choice, because you can't turn pain off, and without the pain it's impossible, because it's not so easy operation. I'm now 11 weeks after operation, and i'm still doing exercises and electro stimulations. I can step with leg with full weight, but the problem is, that i must to go to the same operation for other leg too :S

Sorry "lia19651" but are you serious? How can you ask if the scar looks ugly, if this operation is needed, that means, that you have serious problems with walking. Correct me, but i think that is more important, that you walk and walk without pain and you have scar on your leg, than that you can't walk, you have beautifull legs and you are in bed all the time or walking with crutches in pain.

I had that surgery month ago, and i must to say that is worth of every pain

someone please help! I am due to have knee replacement surgery, I am terrified!!! Can anyone tell me how it feels, how soon can you walk about up stairs etc and how bad is the scar? I love to wear knee length skirts and am worried that the scar will look ugly. How quick does scar fade? Does makeup hide it?

You will have a very large, ugly scar for the rest of your life. Sorry but short skirts are not an option. However, you can walk up stairs almost immediately with hanging on to the railing. Canes or crutches are helpful at first. This is an extremely painful, difficult surgery and recovery is ongoing for many months. Good Luck!

Hhmmmmm.....that's weird. I've had an ACL repair and ever since then it feels not right when I run or jog. Only time I ever run or jog is when i'm kinda drunk 'cause it's pretty much painless. Here's the weird part. Last time I went to the beach, about a month ago, I noticed walking on the sand was working my legs out. Once I tried jogging on concrete my knee felt as if I had never messed it up. I should go to the beach more often....
