Erin McDougald Sings at The Red Canary

Affectionately known as "Chicago's favorite flapper girl" for her vintage-inspired sense of fashion and penchant for reinventing standards of bygone eras, nationally acclaimed jazz vocalist Erin McDougald and her group (Rob Block, Cliff Schmitt and Sharif Zaben) perform every Tuesday, 8pm-11:30pm, at the Red Canary (695 North Milwaukee Avenue in Chicago) in their elegant listening lounge.

McDougald has performed all over the country and in Europe appearing with Grammy winners and in front of such jazz icons as Oscar Peterson, Hank Jones, Keely Smith and others. Her live performances always infuse spontaneous arrangements and improvisation and her style is often compared to a horn player due to her rhythmic phrasing, clarity of tone, and her multi-octave vocal range. She headlines Chicago's most prestigious jazz rooms, bringing that jazz sensibility and atmosphere to The Red Canary every Tuesday night.

About the Red Canary...
The 8,000 square foot venue is decorated as an homage to sirens of yesteryear, offering very atmospheric lighting, plush satin, leather and velvet couches and arm chairs as well as a supper-club setting with dining tables framing the lounge and stage area with unobstructed views of the performing musicians. There is NO cash-cover charge on Tuesday nights, but patrons of the listening lounge are required a $20 food or alcohol minimum per person during hours of the performance. The listening lounge is designed and focused around the performance; there are no televisions and cell phone use is prohibited during the performance.

$5.00 wine specials and a $12 cheese flight are featured every Tuesday night along with an eclectic American gourmet menu. The Red Canary, Chicago's only gastro-lounge, is quickly becoming known for their filet, pork chops and tuna tacos.
