choosing  one over the other one is NOT correct.you guys are aware of what the sage did.he choosed the younger son over the older son.that is something that anyone would regret,specially a parent.that is why i`ve made final decision,to love the sharingan and rinnegan.

Overall, the sage was pretty badass, to do things that no person could do even being in a weak state but I believe in his heart wanted both of his sons to work together to bring peace back to the ninja world, but at last the elder son became bitter, so in my opinion you need these things to bring peace in their world: love, power, intelligence, and unbreakable fighting spirt.

Well according to the tailed beasts, the sage use his last of his power to seal his soul inside the 9tails(kurama) and now he is inside of naruto, so naruto basically is the SOTSP, or maybe not, that's just my theory.
