Dynamic Duo!

The first train is a Capitol heading for San Jose, led by B32-8WH #2051, and the Second is a move from the coach yard too the Oakland Depot, with B32-8WH #2052. Coincidently, I caught them one after the other, and in numerical order...its a rarity to catch both in the same day, let alone within five minutes of each-other, and damned near impossible to get them in order...

You seem to be so lucky to live up there in Oakland. I only get to be up there once a year. I'm pretty sure that a lot of people like the P32-8bwhs better than F59phis. Did you see an Amtrak California train that had both an F59 and P32 on the front of the train. Those are my favorite train combinations.

I know where they got 2051 and 2052 from. They were re-numberings of 501 and 502 and repainted from Phase III or IV.

I wonder if the horns still sound the same even though they get re-numbered or re-painted.

Same manufacturer, slightly different series of engine. The B32s were sort of a stopgap order as the P40s (and subsequent P42s) were developed
