There were some ex-Wigan and Saints players in this team aiming to prove a point. With Andy Gregory as coach, players like Steve Hampson, Sam Panapa, Paul Forber, David Young, Steve Blakeley, Scott Naylor, Mark Lee, Scott Martin were all very good players and had been deemed past their best, but they had the last laugh this day. Paul Forber told me that after the match every player was carried shoulder high from the entrance of The Willows right to the bar. They never bought a drink all night.
