Video taken by the ship's cameraman, after command of the Captain.
On February 10th, 2010, an AS-332, Super Puma helicopter, was ordered to proceed to Ionian Sea, to extract a person from Louis Majesty Cruise Ship. The whole operation was successful and the injured man was safely transported to Rio Hospital. During the operation, the wind was from 170 degrees, 45G60 knots. The first attempt to pick-up the person was made at the front part of the ship, but it was impossible since the rescue diver saw the deck moving up and down towards him in a not-so-safe tempo :). After this first attempt, we tried in the aft part of the ship, and we decided to pick him up from the 3rd deck from above. This was the safest choice, although the turbulence that the ship's size created was severe.
The whole operation was made possible, due to the excellent team effort and the successful CRM. Thanks to all participants, Helicopter's and Ship's.
