When Grandduke Charles, the prince-regent of Carpatha, a fictitious Balkan country which could start a European war by switching alliances, visits London for the coronation of the new British king in 1911, and spends his one evening off at the Coconut Girl club, the reputed stickler for protocol is so charmed by a clumsy American understudy that he orders his British attaché to invite her to the embassy for a private supper. Being overlooked and understanding German, she learns of the repressive attitude of the regent and the plans of his reformist, pro-German minor son, king Nicholas, to take over power by surprise, but doesn't dodge and tries to reconcile father and son. The queen-dowager decides to make her lady-in-waiting for the coronation day, so she stays in the picture to everyone else's surprise.

  • I wish that the curvy body of Marilyn's is what was considered beautiful today!

  • @JBmiddleOFnoWHERE it is.. all body types are beautiful

  • @JBmiddleOFnoWHERE Her beauty is timeless. We got the much desirable Christina Hendryx today, with a body very similar in shape to Monroe's.

  • I love how at 1:49 she's just like "Oh hell with it". Haha made me laugh.

  • @JBmiddleOFnoWHERE

It was beautiful then, and it is beautiful now.

  • @kokokorina "I have worked with hundreds of actors, but there are only 2 that are way above the rest. The first is Marlon Brando, and the second is Marilyn Monroe." Lee Strasberg

"These last months, I've had the pleasure of working with the greatest actress ever, and it was Marilyn Monroe...can you believe it?" Joshua Logan

  • @kokokorina Not a great actress? Ha! Marilyn Monroe was a very talented actress. She was in the league of very few actresses that had great range and depth. She could play comedies, musicals, and dramas with equal dexterity. Sure she invented the dumb blond, but there was nothing dumb about Marilyn. She was exqusite in roles like: some like it hot, theres no business like show business, and Bus Stop. She even steals every scene in this film from Laurence Olivier who was arguably "the best."

  • no offense but Olivier looks like a crazy old coot here - 3 -

  • "Oh that's alright, Your Regency"

    "Grand Ducal"

"Oh that's alright, Your Grand Ducal"

    "...Highness. Grand Ducal Highness..."

    "Oh the hell with it"

LOL I love you, Marilyn :')

  • Mr.Olivier this elephant trunk nosed British Thespian didn't realize that she was very fragile and had lots of emotional and personal issues to tackle with. He should have been considerate to her, he would bring his wide nostril bisexual and slut wife/actress Viven Leigh on the sets to put poor Marilyn further down, as Marilyn knew she was not a great actress and Leigh won an oscar for her role in Gone with the Winds.

  • @kokokorina At least Mr. OLIVIER would bother to show up on time with his lines memorized. ;)
