@100storys The only reason for zwarte piet being called Moor is becouse most black people in the days of sinterklaas came from the country below Spain (sinterklaas lives in Spain) Marocco. Zwarte piet is black becouse of the chimneys.
-
Here is a fact not many people know about Sinterklaas :
Actually Sinterklaas died on the 6th of december, so we celebrate his last day as being his birthday.
-
I don't know if Sinterklaas is the first incarnation of the whole 'santa' idea.
-
Fun fact: the first horse of the (christian) apocalypse is white too. Just, on a completely unrelated note.
-
Why racisme ifn they wher white what did you then set
-
@100storys what I dont get you???? Why do you keep saying that they are black people because they are not and there not supposed to be marocan either, so i dont understand what ur saying???? Its not a racist tradition. But i guess i understand how other people can get the idea that it is

@mdancer77 well there you go!! (lol).....its not about having Black Curly Hair or not, nor being Black or not......Its about making a Cheap Caricature of 'Black' People.....its Degrading and Insulting. And that's what this Zwarte Piet Character does. Some people say that Sinterklaas is a Turk and the Zwarte Piet's are Marocans....why not change Zwarte Piet characters into Marocan People and see if they would like to be part of this Dutch Tradition.

Historically, the Dutch version of the Christmas Tradition, comes closer to historical facts (Santa's date is on Dec 5th or 6th, he is an Archbishop, rides on a white horse followerd by a custody of servants and why not, slaves although not africans. Slavery was common in the 4th century- All subsequent traditions are highly artificial variations.
