quite wonderful ! Has nothing to do with the color of the skin and there are more
great interpretors than the 3 named black ladies (Janowitz, Rothenberger, Stich-
Randall..........) I cannot agree that that the music of Richard Strauss is
conservative ( Salomé 1905 Elektra 1909.....)
My playlist has more than 20 different interpretations of "Beim Schlafengehen"

Beautiful- the sweet tone of her voice, the articulate singing in perfect german pronunciation, and the photo of the young Martina Arroyo- Jessye Norman will always be my favourite in Strauss` Vier letzte Lieder but this is absolutely beautiful singing from a wonderful Martin Arroyo indeed.

A lot of Strauss's operatic compositions included stong female roles. From Ariadne auf Naxos to Rosenkavalier to Salome, etc... he strenghthened the soprano voice.

My first experience of fan toward Dame Martina Arroyo was in Verdi`s Requiem (Domingo, Raimondi and Veasey) when I was astonished with her powered GORGEOUS voice, and extreme peace while singing complicated parts of the piece. I excalmmed "Wow", marvelous. This is my first time hearing Straus after have heard with Popp (my prefered), Schwarzkopf, Janowitz, and I loved her interpretation and sweet voice.
SUPERB!!

Astoundingly beautiful, how could anyone not be engulfed in the sound? The solo violin was exceptional.

gorgeous colors
ironiia siudby: the conservative bavarian Strauss wrote some unique lieder and 3 black ladies are the absolute stars of those lieder: Leontyne, Jessye and Martina....:)))
