I play the sax and Matt you know you are good but I really like the Trombone Solo on this one its just got that old school jazz Jungle book feel. Please forgive me but I might have to copy this solo :-)
-
I really like the way you guys play this tune I would have love to jam with you on this
-
You guys jam well together, love it as always Matt.
Saw Alan Barnes and his Octet (with Bruce Adams on Trumpet) play their arrangment of this which begins with the 3 choruses Duke wrote for the tune. I ended up buying their album, which is a tribute to Ellington and Strayhorn's music, give me a heads up if you want some stuff from it.
Peace

Very good.
But this really needs a trumpet to provide a contrast to all the smoothness.
Nice performance, by the way.

Cheers, you are right about pros breaking rules, I just dislike the prescriptive "you must hold your horn like XXX" it is often repeated from teachers, rather than proper informed opinion. Of course students should do things "correctly" but they should also look at other pros and say, well OK, different strokes for different folks and all that, especially in Jazz.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
the trombone player has to put his horn up.

hmm, check out his website; marcusreynolddotcom, I am sure he knows how to hold his horn. Read his bio, 25 years a pro. Bear in mind he is reading here, as it is the first time he played with us

What fun! Wish I could have been there. I missed the live music and the sandwiches.
Happy New Year to you and yours.

Cheers DL, you would have been most welcome, we never got to do much together this year, maybe in 2009? Thanks for your support and encouraging to get out there, it has been a good year. Happy New Year to you and yours too!
