i keep my settings on it at frequency: about 10 oclock

gain, all the way,

low bout 12 oclock

mids: little less than 3 oclock and

highs around 10 - 11 oclock

gate and scoop on

and it sounds perfect for metal and the louder your turn it up the more "grinding" ill get out of it

i use a cheap ass musicians gear guitar, a fender 25r amp, and this pedal

and it sounds amazing

with a much better guitar and maybe seymour duncan blackouts metal though itll probably sound like a god guitar.

It depends on how good the clean channel of the Spider is. Usually, the clearer the clean channel, the better a distortion pedal will sound. They dont really sound that great through an amps distorted channel. Try it out of course; you never know what sound youll find. Just get ready for some feedback. This pedal has a noise gate on it which helps. Otherwise, try a Boss NS or an ISP Decimator. If youre using an overdrive pedal, you can run it through either the dirty or clean channel.
