I`m just a laymen but that looks like it could be difficult for a pilot..? Maybe it IS an optical illusion like someone wrote but it did look steep and those mountains look pretty close taking into considration "swing room" and keeping a distance from them...But it DID look very steep...

Great video! Love the 757, short flight to use it though.

@craiglsimons Actually what you are seeng is an optical illusion because of the high mountain peaks. Remember the HORIZON is actually at the BASE of the mountains and they are close to the aircraft.

damn, austria was beatiful

thats a really steep takeoff but a beautiful one at that

Monarch is very nice!!

@JeremyKou Yeah, think your right, because it took a while for the aircraft to start moving once the engines started to spool up. I'd say that the takeoff pitch was between 18-23 degrees. Very nice view.

Wow, this is so beautiful, and I love the scenery. That's one steep climb as with the angle of earth at takeoff!

How to climb mountains in few seconds.... JUST AWESOME INNSBRUCK !!!!

yeah I thought it was rocket !! haha
I've never seen a commercial aircraft fly so steeply before? 757s are powerful aircrafts but, either there was a lighter payload or Monarch have adjusted their engines to give them more power than usual. Well done for giving some superb shots of the Austrian Alps. 5 stars!

Thanks! Yeah it really did seem a bit strange to me, having only taken off in open areas like Gatwick. I can't image there was a light payload, the plane was full of people and everyone had skiing equipment, so I assume they must have altered the engines or just really fired her up!

It could also have been because of the short travel distance of this flight. The 757 is capable of flying non-stop from Paris to New York, so it could be possible that this aircraft only needed 25% of their fuel capacity. Now, when you first spool the engines up to full power with the parking brakes on, you can get the most power out of the engines. Just look at the short take-off roll and see for yourself ;) I hope my text is understandable, because I'm from holland.
