If you come across Bruce Marchiano's book explaining how he interpreted Jesus for this video, you might understand why he was inspired to play this "joyful Jesus."
Personally, I think this is 'on' so much more than other interpretations. Who else delivers such lines as "oh you of little faith," with gently love and compassion - as a loving God would say it, not a ticked of human "father."
It's sad that many "see" Jesus as dour and uncompassionate instead of approachable and "one of us."
