This track is a re-recorded version of "Suffocate" originally featured on the 1997 album Polythene. This new version was released between Polythene and YWTS.

As Grant Nicholas once said this was the song that secured the band's record deal with ECHO back then in the mid 90's.

Interestingly, this video was re-edited for "Piece By Piece", and it became famous with that song...

But now, you can see the ORIGINAL verison with the ORIGINAL song!

:)

Cheers!

  • Are you talkin bout this version of Suffocate?? I've got another version from Feeder (the original?) with a complete different refrain, witch is ten times better then this one in my opinion. It is really great and can be compared to tracks like Piece by piece. But this version here? No way! Sorry, thats only my opinion, but if you listen to that other version, maybe you would agree.

  • Yeah, I know what you talking about, that Suffocate featured on Polythene, and it's bare acoustic.

This version is a bit over-orchestrated, but has some nice moments too in melody...I think.

  • saw em back in seattle '98. this and "descend" are my favorites of the album.

  • Lyric Please?

  • This brings back so many memories. I spent 3 months working in Holland in 1998 and at the airport bought an NME with a free CD on it..."Independant And Still Taking Liberties" I think. I listened to the CD consistently for 3 months (it was either that or the Dutch radio channel "Radio Sky" that was piped into the office & only seemed to play Leanne Rhimes, Jennifer Paige and similar pap). I still actually rate that CD as the best "free" CD I've ever had off a magazine. Quality tune.

  • One of the best vids EVER made

  • Ain't listened to this in years, reminds me of something off of Radiohead's The Bends album.

  • the full length single version is one of the best and most touching songs ever

  • Better this version

  • i like the acoustic version better :)
