Spiritual formation is the process through which one's inner self is opened to the work of the Holy Spirit, who forms us into the image of the Son. In this video Richard Foster and Gayle Beebe, both experienced leaders in spiritual formation, discuss their book, Longing for God, which introduces you to people from the past who have known God deeply including Augustine of Hippo, Blaise Pascal, John Calvin, Martin Luther, Theresa of Avila, Francis of Assisi, Julian of Norwich, George Fox, Thomas Merton and many others. Each person helps you to grasp one of the seven primary paths to intimacy with God that have been developed throughout Christian history. (Expected book release: April 2009)

  • true spirituality is found in submitting to Gods authority, a healthy prayer life and reading Gods word....if anyones looking for a good read apart from the newage dribble on this vid try the gospels and the book of acts....we really are in the last days arn't we...

  • Seven Paths?

I thought that there was only one way to God. . . not seven of them.

  • I bought the book just a few days ago. I love it. I am so thankful to the authors and to IVP for publishing this. It will lead me and I am sure others to find out more from the significan Christians featured in this book. I just wish they could write a book on each of the seven paths.

  • Cannot wait to read this book. I've read all Foster's books and have grown in my Christian walk tremedously! Thank you Richard Foster!
