Schweizer Luftschutzsirene: Typ MSL-6 Probealarm

There is a siren-test for the whole switzerland one time in the year. For all about 7000 sirens the test starts at 1.30 pm . You can hear the test-signal: warning of population. The engine of this siren has the power of 11 kw and a whole weight of 145 kg!

wenn ich die zeit und mittel hätte, würde ich dies vielleicht tun. das was an sirenen-aufnahmen momentan existiert und zu sehen ist von mir, ist bloß ein tropfen auf einen heissen stein......... :-) ergo: es müssen noch viele videos der art gedreht werden. ;-)

Diese alten Dinger klingen am "schönsten". Die elektronischen sind irgendwie seltsam im Klang.

yes, but the 100.000 sirens were installed in times of "cold-war" in Germany! that is the difference.

the sirens have been eliminated for thousands in the beginning of the 90´ies (end of cold-war-area)

um... i live in Canada...... my city (83,000 people, yes that is considered a city where i come from) We havent had our siren since the 1980's or nineties (i cant remember i was not born) But because we only used it for Weather warnings.... once or twice i think in the 80's... and before that.. every night at 10Pm as we had a local bylaw that required all minors (under 18) to be accompanied by and adult after 10... or be escorted home by the police...
