  • I think his purse (the one with his balls in it) got stuck under the gas pedal.

  • @madestroytube both have the same weight but i agree with u 289 probably had upgrades

  • If it is a 427 side oiler, and it's from Shelby, it's actually a 468Cid. Way more power to weight than the 289 fia. This is a gearing race, nothing more said.

  • I love the lightweight 289 but I still thought the monster 427 would win. Wonder if they're were both close to original. Kit cars with modern upgrades maybe? Outstanding anyway.

  • 289 cars were better handling due to the lightweight engine. Assuming these cars were real or accurate replicas, gearing, tires & skill would determine the outcome, not the engine. The real advantage of the 427 engine was it's brute power & acceleration on a straightaway when all things were considered equal.

  • Both these cars were tested in the 60's, the weber-equipped 289 did 0-60 in 4.2, and the 427 high-riser Cobra did 3.8, there's no excuse for the 427 owner getting his ass handed to him.

  • @Gaidal oh at the top end the 427 would kill that small block.

  • An FE4427 will weigh maybe 250# more then a 289. A drag race is where the 427 will shine, its a hard car to drive well on the road course, it takes a lot of skill to keep it going the right way.

  • WHERE did it say which car was which? I must have missed it! :P While the 289 surely has a weight advantage, an original, aluminum block 427 FE certainly isn't much heavier and has more than enough horsepower to compensate for the 289's lighter weight.

  • @gearhead2k6 Very good way of putting it :)
