This is my 5th original uploaded. The guitar track has 16 beats per measure- its moving pretty fast. Its not my most complex song but its fun to play. It reminds me of Hoodoo Gurus, an alternative band from the late 80's. The symbolism of the song is the weird effect of loneliness we fell sometimes, when away from the person we love dearly. Lyrics below:

verse 1

Here it comes, its back again,
That feeling, its coming on,
Stronger than, it was before,
It stalks me as I walk out the door,

verse 2

Waiting by, the roadside,
To break me down, when I walk by,
It follows me, it knows my name,
But when you're around, the beast is tame,

chorus-

When you're around, it disappears,
When you're around, its not near,
When you're around, its all clear,

verse 3

Loneliness, is it's name,
Broken hearts, is it's game,
Emptiness, I can't catch my breath,
It hits me everytime I walk away,

chorus- twice

When you're around, it disappears,
When you're around, its not here,
When you're around, its all clear.

  • great song man. might wanna limber up that wrist a little more next time you record it. You got rather smooth with your strum pattern about halfway through, but had a few oopses in the first 1 1/2 mins. Not trying to knock you at all. I just pick up on little things like that. They stand out like a day-glow lime green nose to me, heh. It seemed like you tensed up your forearm in anticipation of how fast you had to strum

instead of letting go and floating on the rhythm wherever it takes ya....

  • @SmithhausCraftworks thank you Lowlife brother>>I see MD up above. It's been way too long since I last spoke with Wildman! You are exactly correct; I didn't settle in until the 1st chorus, had been playing for 11 months in this one and at that pace/experience level-1:30 was an eternity-LOL-I flub the timing and miss a bar in a few measures on the Em. I. I wrote the song 15 mins prior and this was my first attempt; 20+ takes on earlier songs led to playing through all but certified catastrophes!

  • Very well done. You really have a great style Gary. Stars forever --:)Rod

  • Those lil flubs were no more than the patina that regally coats a polished silver exterior giving your work a soul of its own.. It has that newly punched-in sound, I really enjoy best, as it can sound too "dressed-up-with-a-coat+tie" once the production guys get out the shackles. No room to breathe in the booth; gotta hit that Am without loising yer voice in the 3rd octave after the 69th take. lol, studios eat you up and spit you out with some long-ass days. You wrote it 15min b4 take?Sweet! GJ

  • @TheNebakanezer I'd hardly think catastrophe is the word:) You did a fine job, especially given the fast timing, still keeping your voice in check, making sure your own natural vibrato doesnt get off-pitch with the ringing the guitar starts making when you play that fast.....harmonics flying about wildly, lol. I've noticed that several of Dave Matthews' song have that tonal quality if you arent very careful about picking and strumming. That man loves some inverted chords and backbeat rhythms:)

  • @TheLowLifeGang um, im out...need more doooobs:)

  • Thank you Raz- I appreciate that.
