Biography from the Concert Program:
Zach Pace is a senior at Clarence High School where he is the principal trombonist of the Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Orchestra. Zach began playing trombone the summer before his fouth grade year. He immediately began to perform in a variety of styles, and continued to play Jazz through his middle school and high school career. Throughout his tenure at the elementary, middle and high schools, he has been invited to join both ECMEA and NYSBDA Honor Bands on multiple occasions, and was selected as an alternate for the 2009 NYSSMA All-State Band.
Zach was originally a violinist, having studied from age three until age sixteen with Caol Monaco of Tonawanda, NY. Since then he has studied with Maureen Pohlman, of the WIlliamsville School District, and has recently begun playing in the Clarence High School Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Mr. Douglas Shaw. In the past several years, his interests have widened, and he has expanded his violin repertoire into less traditional forms, including Jazz, Celtic, and Cape Breton Styles.
Zach enjoys performing with his bother Joe (a tubist and fellow violinist), in independent performances for commuity groups and at church. He also performed with the Symphonic Band this year for the fall and MId-winter Concerts, and for the performance at the NYSBDA Spring 2010 Symposium in Syracuse, NY.
It has been Zach's singular privilege to have studied trombone with Mr. Andrew Bodemer of Clarence Center and Sheridan Hill Elementary Schools since the 2002-3 School year. He would also like to thank Mr. Eicher and all the other Clarence Music Department faculty members who have supported him som much over the years.
Zach will be attending the University at Buffalo during the 2010-11 school year to study Physics, Russian, and Geology.
Way to go Zach! How'd you get your lips to vibrate so slowly for the low notes?!
