On December 22nd 1872, Phileas Fogg and Princess Auoda engaged to be married after Mr. Fogg failed to complete his journey around the world in eighty days. However, they did not know at the time that what they thought was the 22nd was actually the 21st, and having dispatched Passepartout to book the wedding service for the 23rd, he returned in a mad dash and revealed the news. When I adapted the book for my local theatre group in 2005 (although it was never performed) I was told that the idea of a woman proposing (as occurred in the book) would never happen in real life and so, as our theatre group likes to have songs, had Phileas Fogg propose to the Princess using "All I want for Christmas is you" by Mariah Carey. As my adaption was never chosen, I am uploading this version of it for people to see.
