I've been in the place of that girl I didn't think of giving up my child because I wanted him but my husband didn't so I gave him the choice we divorced and signed over right didn't ask for child support in turn he get to play daddy when it's alright for him everyone should have a choice when your life is going to be turned upside down

I have a respect for true poets, and in my humble opinion that is what this he is. You put your heart and soul into your words and it's obvious. I appreciate the sincerity and the emotion. I've never been pregnant, thankfully, but I've seen friends have to rush and grow up and I think you accurately depict the fear in some of the guys, quite honestly, some of the women I've known as well. Keep writing, you have a God given talent.

I love this poem !
It's crazy to think about how boys want to grow into men so quickly.
Do things that adults do but when they find out they are going to be a dad they get a reality check that they are still a child themselves not a man. And when a guy is able to admit it its deep and shows a lot of maturity.

"Abortion poem. i wrote this poem about a week before the show, when i got the news from my girlfriend at the time. that was the first time i had read it aloud. i dont really perform it much because..... i dont want to fake the emotion. i love this recording because its sincerity on tape. most of the mothafuckas on that show are so rehearsed. Poetry is...at its best when its serving to provoke dialogue. conversation. it is the personal narrative for the public dispute. "
That is sooo true.
I think it is possible that some of you (females in particular) missed the point, which is embedded in the tone as well as in some of the language... this is not an 'excuse' set to rhyme, but an honest portrayal (and admission) of the fear and the challenge some males experience in their journey/transformation from boys to MEN. clinging to boyish pastimes, crying for mom.. suddenly too small for their 'big-boy-ganster' clothes. a rite of passage we expect them to make unassisted, unsupported.
