  • As I recall, and am willing to be corrected, this song is more closely associated with the Armies of Frederick the Great. As I heard the story, after one of the most terrible battles in history during the Seven Years War, the entire Prussian Army sang this in Unison. Even Frederick, quite the religious skeptic, was moved.

  • This song is also mentioned in the book "Citizen Solider" by Stephen Ambrose. The story goes.....On Jan.21, 1944 Col. Hans von Luck of the 125th Reg. 21st Panzer Div. was walking through the town of Rittershoffen, and wandered into a bombed out church. He found an organ undamaged. He had one of his men tread the bellows, and he sat down and played Bach's "Danker Alle Gott". It attracted towns folks and German soldiers. They gathered, knelt, prayed and sang.

  • Very good tempo and articulation, it sounds like fingers and feet dancing!

Oh well I didn't know that so it definitely makes sense right now. I don't know where you got that information from but anyways it's good to know. Thank you then ;)

Excuse me, what are you talking about. There isn't any connection between WWII and baroque music. Really weird

  • ONLY Bach.

  • nice tempo and registration!
