After a long and bloody struggle, in 1975 Angola finally wrested its independence from its colonial master, Portugal. Unfortunately, nationhood did not mean the end of the struggle, for South African forces promptly invaded the country in the months before independence, fanning the flames of civil war. Providing men, arms, and training to the puppet UNITA faction, South Africa (with the able assistance of the U.S.) kept the war raging for decades. Which explains why Pablo Moses was proclaiming "We Should Be in Angola." With agile reasoning, the singer explains that Jamaicans should stop fighting each other, and instead join the MPLA in driving out the South African intruders. Moses delivered his unusual unity theme wrapped in a revolutionary message with suitable insistence, with strong harmony support from Don Prendes and Val Bailey. The musical backing is irrepressible, its solid roots rockers rhythm and bouncy organ wrapping the entire arrangement in an upbeat atmosphere. Expertly produced by Geoffrey Chung, this was yet another hit for the rising roots star.

  • José Eduardo dos Santos, president of Angola, that represents MPLA(but first of all himselfe) betrayed all Angola, since he his primarly interested in getting richer and richer( like his daughter), instead of developing the country, he wasn´t even born in Angola. Jonas Savimbi (UNITA) was no saint (impossible to be one in a war) but he had better intentions and real love for his country. The americans supported MPLA, and the comunists helped UNITA, who is better? who is worst?

  • Rasta!!!!

  • this song is TOO good.

  • nice tune, his voice is so lov

    ely laid back

  • I guess Moses is happy now that the MPLA are running Angola and UNITA has been cheated out of yet another election. People are starving in Luanda and the country is the richest in Africa. Check out what Bob Geldof says about the MPLA. Savimbi was no angel but he was Angolan and loved Angola, the MPLA is full of foreigners and should go back to Sao Tome.

  • By siding with the MPLA he is openly agreeing with the 27th May massacre where thousands of innocents from within the MPLA were butchered, or is Pablo Moses pro-Nito Alves, or is he from the Chitunda faction?

  • When Unita's Savimbi entered Huambo on independece he was surrouded by blacks, it is hard to find one white person in the crowd, whereas when Neto entered Luanda he was surrounded by whites. Savimbi was a real Angolan with an African name and an idea of putting Angola first. UNITA never were and still aren't puppets of anyone.
