Pre-Professional Offerings

The University of Maine at Farmington has a long, storied history of offering pre-professional programs in the field of Education. But Farmington also has a rich tradition of preparing students for entrance to professional and graduate schools: Medical School, Law School, Business School, Dental School, Pharmacy School, Optometry School, Veterinary School, and Graduate School. Because these schools recognize the intrinsic value of traditional liberal arts education, there are typically no set lists of courses making up a pre-med, pre-law, or pre-MBA program. Here, we've developed individualized course "tracks" in each pre-professional area -- specific courses identified as ideal for meeting the entrance requirements of each type of school. In addition, you'll meet regularly with specially-selected Pre-Med, Pre-Law, and Pre-MBA faculty advising teams. These caring and knowledgeable professors and practicing adjunct faculty will work closely with you to tailor your course selections, help prepare you for the entrance exams (MCAT, LSAT, etc.) and the application process, and expose you to the specialty of your choosing. From Ivy League universities to prestigious research institutions, Farmington students are regularly accepted to some of the finest medical schools, law schools, MBA programs, and graduate schools in the nation. Those schools know from experience that Farmington's rigorous Liberal Arts foundation and specialized pre-professional advising gives our graduates the tools necessary to flourish and succeed at their institutions.
