Does that siren actually have that "pop" at the outset? If I work up the courage to listen to that godawful sound again, I should test that in my own home.

how many speakers do you have?
For this siren driver, you NEED to have two speakers wired in series. Having only one speaker will make a scratchy sound, and draw excessive current.
If you wire another 8-ohm speaker in series, you'll notice a difference.

Usually when somebody stupidly sets off the alarm at my home,I always end up waking up before the "pop" of the speaker going on, giving me enough time to cover my ears. ~_~
I like the Ademco ones better than this voice quality wise as others have already stated.

I am used to Napco siren drivers. But i like ademco products better.
