Yes.. they are only seeing a small percentage of the sun's ray. In the first scene of the movie, you get a glimpse of the psychiatrist trying to stretch the limits of the % he can see of the sun.

It also gives me an overwhelming sense of unity. Like it or not, we are all in this TOGETHER.

Every time I see this scene, I am overcome with emotion. It just perfectly puts everything (literally EVERYTHING) in perspective. We're just floating on a tiny little orb, so beautiful, yet so very fragile, against the unimaginable vastness that is the universe. For this is not something out of a fantasy tale, or a science fiction novel...this is how things really are. That simple fact truly amazes me.

I didn't want to attack you I just meant with "Think about that" ALL the people who hate Pinbacker (not you). I just wanted to make clear, that there are more scenes which wouldn't make sense without him.

A lot of people hate Pinbacker, BUT if he wasn't in the movie we wouldn't of had Capa's jump...Please tell me, where I said I hate Pinbacker? Go fuck yourself.

Are you retarded? All you did was regurgitate my opinion and add more to the list.

    Without Pinbacker we wouldn't have:

    - Mace's death

    - Capa's jump

    - Capa meets the sun

And who sent the epic SOS-signal from icarus 1? It was Pinbacker. Think about THAT.

You are right that at that range from Mercury, the sun would appear much smaller (about 3 times as large as we see it from the Earth), but it would be possible to see the relative size of Mercury and the sun to be about that, at the right distance (probably around the range of 1-2 million miles out from Mercury).

Disappointment is a mild word for Prometheus. On the other side it's a shame that Sunshine doesn't have better closure, that would made this movie a classic.
