Portal -- Advanced Chamber 18 Solution

This is a quick video that I made in response to people getting hung up on Advanced Chamber 18 in Portal (part of Valve's Orange Box). It goes from beginning to end, is a composite (not a flawless run, nor even a particularly fast or good run), but it shows relatively consistent, safe solutions to each jump.

I also threw in fun credits at the end, but if you haven't beaten Portal already you may not want to listen, the song spoils elements of the ending.

Constructive comments and recommendations are always welcome and liked, and requests for other levels/challenges to be run through are also appreciated. I'm thinking of running through Advanced 18 again, showing how you can quickly solve the pozzle, and circumvent certain elements of it. Hope you enjoy the video.

@normal1988 This is _Advanced_ Chamber 18, not the normal Chamber 18 -- you'll notice most of the ceiling is black (you can't place a portal on it), and there's no "energy ball" spawner; that's what makes it more challenging (along with the fact that you can't screw up in the last part of the level, because the podiums fall once you've come out of them once).

You dont need to take down all turrets, there is a way of doing the room by taking out only 1 (i think it is possible to do without taking out any turret through)

It is lots faster if you can do properly

Oh I know -- this is a safe and straightforward, no-pressure way to completely clear the level. Look at my speedruns (one is linked in the description of this video, a slightly faster/cleaner run is linked in that vid's description) to see a method to do it without taking out any of the turrets. There's even faster methods than mine that take advantage of some glitches/jamming, but I don't see those as in the spirit of the game.

nice video. This chamber really gave me a headachae but i did manage to solve it with lots of saves and blood splattered all over the room.

Not as nice solved as this one tho, i just made portals and jumped to the platforms.

You dont have to double swing to get to the box btw. Timing the moving platform will allow you to jump down to the opposite platform. The momentum is enough.

That's the wonderful part about Portal -- everyone's solution is slightly different. This one was just one that I came up to demonstrate a fairly straightforward solution -- if you want to see a harder, but much faster, route, check out my speedruns of this chamber -- they ignore the turrets entirely, and have a very tricky way of getting to the box.

Dude can you please answer this question.Iv just completed all advanced maps but none of the achievments have shown it says their,"Cup cake-2/2,Fruit cake-4/4,Crazy vanilla cake6/6. but they are still locked why???????????????/ someone please help and answer.
