appbackr is a fun and profitable way to finance applications. appbackr allows iPhone developers to sell wholesale copies of their applications to finance development. appbackr buyers profit when the apps are sold on the iTunes store. Developers can sell up to 50,000 units of their application in the concept and then again in the finished stage. appbackr makes $.09 per $.99 of retail revenue. The application provides transparency to buyers along with a transparent accounting of iTunes sales and bank reconciliation.
A lot more is covered in the faq, but here is how it happens in a nutshell. A developer posts an application. (You have to first register as a developer with itunes, more about that in the faq.) When she is ready, you make your application available to sell. This costs $25 per month (for as long as you are selling your app and until your buyers (appbackrs) have been repaid. (Again, more detail in the faq.) You can decide to sell to anyone or just to people in your network. Creating a network is a matter of sending an email (all in the setup process) to people who you know and would like to participate. You can decide to set a minimum threshold in which case unless that much is committed, no sales will actually take place.
In the concept stage, you are collecting $.25 per unit sold of the application, $.40 if you want to sell applications that have been approved for sale on iTunes. When the app is sold, your buyers get repaid. Buyers are purchasing by queue number so if someone buys unit 546, they get their money when unit 546 is sold in iTunes, or more likely a group of units, like 1-10,000. (Buyers you'll want to look carefully at the queue number since lower numbers will get repaid first.)
As a developer you'll receive an additional $.15 in concept stage or $.10 in the finished stage. The buyers and developers can view how purchases and retail sales are going very day as its updated.
We hope that you find appbackr a great marketplace for you and your apps.
You can stop selling at anytime. You are in control. Our Terms and Conditions will tell you more and are important to read so that you understand how everything works and what your rights are as a buyer and as a seller.
