El Norte - Parte II

This movie is still without a doubt one of the best made about illegal immigration and specifically the push of refugees fleeing the violence in Central America. This movie is about hopes and aspirations of immigrants coming to the United States.

Specifically, it deals with Guatemala where many indigenous people were killed by the military regimes in power there in the 1970s and 1980s. Many of the participants in the genocide have not been brought to justice and any recriminations are still met with violence.

I remember watching it on PBS and in class during the 1980s. My final upload will be personal commentary on it looking back from 2008.
