AirChime K3L #8685

Here's a recording of my sand cast AirChime K3L, serial number 8685, from the September 2007 Oak Ridge Horn Honk. Best I can tell from the spotty faded black paint that was on it when I got it, this horn is likely former Canadian National.

What kind of paint did you use on this horn? I am rebuilding an Ex Amtrak K5LA with snow cones and I want to use the same color.

@heelblocks I used Rustoleum Flat Black on this one, but I probably wouldn't use it again. It looked great at first, but now it's just too drab looking, especially when it gets a little dust on it. I now prefer Painter's Touch Semi-Gloss Black, which is what I used on my K3L #6179 (search for it in my videos for pictures). I think that would look perfect on an ex AMTK K5LA.

@heelblocks I only use spray paint. I know only one person that brushes his horns.

Great sounding K3L! I think that's the best one I've herd. And I've herd quite a few nice ones during my railfanning time! To me, it almost sounds like a car horn. A kickass car horn!!! :)
