Chrono Trigger - Low Level Game Part XVIII: Golem Twins

Before you read the description, watch the vid until you begin to think "what the hell, is he about to lose?".

It's more entertaining in this order, trust me.

Ok, and now the strategy. These two Golems are TOUGH. They change phases depending on the element of attack that was used on them, and we exploit this. What we are going to do is cast Fire 2 with Lucca to force them into a firey phase and we have Red Vest & Mail to absorb all fire attacks which makes it safe.

But, the problem is... Lucca may not survive until she gets to cast the spell. I had her die there twice in a row, until I realized the golems use their attacks on Crono and the person to his left, so I made Lucca enter the battle to Crono's right, thus staying alive to cast Fire 2.

Now she is absolutely safe and able to revive Ayla, which we execute smoothly. With both of them alive, we may begin doing their double tech for just over 1K damage. 7 of them and they are dead.

However, we need to Charm 2 Magic Tabs from them first, and using Charm makes them enter the deadly physical phase, in which they easily OHKO any party member regardless of equipment setup.

The solution is simple though, delay Ayla's Charm so that Lucca gets to use Fire 2 immediately the next instant, that way chances are the Golem Twins won't have the chance to kill our girls.

Now a certain somebody is about to die. About time too, since I can't stand having this level 1 weakling around in every battle.

what level were you on when defeating the golem twins? I heard on a website that a good tip is to get your characters on level 60 to beat this thing, also with the red vest and mail if your equiped with those, when the twins attack with fire that wont lower your HP will it?

Levels don't matter much. This is actually a low level game. Just use elemental magic to cause them to strike back, and have absorption for that element on your characters.

thanks to this i was able to beat this boss , thanks .

Altough since I was higher level I was able tod o it with all my members alive , I did it with merle and lucca , the way I did is I locked the two bosses on fire mode and just time it so chrono could use the devastating confusion attack followed with loca so I wouldn't get the physical attack that is extremely hard to recover from .

Well, we WILL revive him once we reach that point in the game (which is quite soon actually), not to mention that we will have to complete the game with him, Marle and Robo in our party in order to have an endgame party of average level just below 7.

swamplord 9 way is hands down the fastest and easiest way to beat this boss . like he put them to sleep and use the dual tech falcon hit u beat them in no time

But how do you do this? I can't get the red mail before this battle cuz I can't get inside Guardia Castle, what mail is Lucca using?

lol, the first time I played this battle I was wiped out within one minute, even with a normal levelled team-then I thought to do something like this, and it was loads of fun laughing at them the second time.

Why couldn't you have just followed the basic strategy of using two different elemental attacks within a short time together so that the golems try to copy each one and never get to cast a spell?

Have the team in this video, and have Lucca keep using Hypnowave. Have Chrono and Ayla use Falcon Strike. Keep repeating. That's what I did. :P

One of them might wake up, so make sure you heal while they're sleeping.
