sorry again you said the issue was the heatsink with 6400. Did you buy a new heatsink or did you just refurbish the old and added better thermal paste on it?

@KampucheaKing yes it was an heatsink failiure i got an new heatsink. what was wrong is the gas in the heatsink that transforms and lets the heat travel had all leaked out. So i had to replace it. And so i found an nearly identical heatsink from what i had and thats how i fixed it. fan and cpu is perfectly fine in my case.

You could try patching the DSDT to alter the fan speeds.

I also had the same problem with my HP NC6400. When ever i open any youtube video or flash games, or browser with more tabs, my system heats up too much & stops working. Somehow If i close the youtube page/flashpage/close all unnecessary pages it comes to normal. But If I open any videos on my system using VLC(vdos on my harddirve), it works fine in full screen also. I didnt cleaned my fan since long time. I am searching for vdos how to open this laptop. If you find any solution please update.

@adityachs yes i can show you how to open for cleaning in the next week if you like? Sens we got the same model its easy as an dodido to open. Just three screws under. Four tabs on the keybard. disconnect cables to keyboard carefully by lifting the tabs. Then thats that. Its open :) Then compressed air to it. And works like an charm. Mine has damaged heatsink. If yours cleaned and still runs hot. Test with coretemp. You might also have an busted heatsink or fan.

i have the same issue also with my nc4600, it would power on for 2 hours or so and shut off randomly. The air coming from the fan is not hot, but on the bottom of the laptop its hot like any normal laptop would. I even have the laptop raised so theirs airflow on the bottom. So i dont know if its heat issue or something... so if you do find anything wrong wtih this model laptop please update. This is really frustrating and im not techy like you are ... :D

@chrilla1980 är det samma moderkort och grejer i den då? Annars är jag bara i behöv av batteri samt CPU kanske samt kylaren om det är samma samt hårddisken. Allt annat tror jag skiljer. Skypea mig sen!!!

@37474748 Det jag vet är trasigt på den i nuläget är skärmen samt sprickor i skalet och att den inte tar emot laddning.

Satte i den med extern skärm innan batteriet dog efter att den åkt i backen o då fungerade den med batteriet men nu är det slut o jag kan inte ladda upp det eftersom den inte tar emot laddning längre :(

BTW gick o tittade på den precis och såg att modellen är en 6510b och inte 6400 vilket kan vara både bra och dåligt iofs :)
