We believe we have the freedom to learn. Do we really??? Check out how the government has "standardized" the way you learn, the way you think, the way you perceive the world
Children all learn differently, that's what makes this world work. We have the questioning, the bull shitters, the curious, the over-achieving, the independent thinkers, the loud, the talkative, the average, the followers, the unique...etc etc.
But when the government implements a "standard"...all of these individualistic qualities don't matter.
As an alternative method of learning, one that praises these unique qualities, check out the Montessori method!!!
--Focus on independent learning
--Belief in a learning continuum
--Use constructive criticism rather than grading
--Symbiotic relationship between students (friends) and teachers (observers)
--Individual Skill-based progress (no tests for comparing students)
--Emphasis on the process rather than the final product (believe that all students will reach their skill set at their own time and focus more on the process of achieving these skills than the end result)

...are we really as free to learn as we think?
The government dictates
--who can learn
(can you afford a private or Montessori school or are you restrained to learn the "public" way?)
--what we learn
(teachers have to teach by the test nowadays...what happens to all other ways of learning??)
--when we learn
(we are required to meet certain skills at certain times...but not everyone learns at the same time...)
--how we learn
(our learning is structured and limited according to the government standard)
The result of implementing a standard:
--low achieving students dont improve
--high achieving students dont feel the need to learn at their highest capacity
because all that matters is that the school reaches the average!!!!
so how free is our education system??
