Pacific Journey ship based Marine Science and Youth Retreats

Pacific Journey is a Marine Education and Science company based in Southern California. We offer a variety of Marine Education programs to Catalina Island that range from 3-days to 3-weeks for middle school through college students. Students of all backgrounds and ages can learn about the importance and aesthetics of our oceans through the program developed by our team over the last 12 years. Through inquiry and experiential based marine science education, emphasizing pioneering and creative instruction, our students can gain a deep understanding of the issues of marine engineering, conservation and preservation of marine ecosystems, and issues that impact California's coast. Our students will leave our program prepared to further their education and even pursue careers in marine biology. Marine Education programs in the classroom offer very little hands-on experience for the students. A live aboard ship-based program allows educators and students alike to learn first-hand about the Marine Environment. The problem with most Marine Education programs offered in our schools is the lack of exposure or access to the environment they are studying. Pacific Journey Adventures solves the problem by providing an at-sea program where the students are able to learn by total immersion in and on the Pacific Ocean. In essence, the ocean is their classroom. Our Marine Educators offer hands-on instruction through a variety of modules specifically designed to teach each student by observing and touching the specimens in their natural Marine Environment. We provide the unique opportunity for students and educators alike to gain a full appreciation for the ocean and all the wonderful creatures within it. At the end of each trip, the students will walk off the ship prepared to become the future stewards of our coastlines and oceans. It will be an experience they will never forget.
