Runty f2 baby on his 3rd day in the world. Not doing too good. You can hear him coughing.

*UPDATE* I have learned that this kitten has a cleft palate which is VERY SERIOUS and life threatening. The only chance he has at survival is to be fed with a tube since anything he sucks with go straight into his lungs. In addition to being tube fed he is on antibiotics to hopefully prevent him from getting an infection in his lungs from any fluid that he may have already breathed in. His cough and slightly raspy breathing could be a symptom that he swallowed milk into his lungs before I started tube feeding him.

If Runty lives for at least 6 months, then he may be able to go under surgery to repair his deformed mouth. The only thing to do now, is to keep him alive and try to help him grow bigger so he can get his surgery...

Unfortunately the problem is that this kitten has a cleft palate. I didnt realize it at the time I took this video. I am tube feeding him and if I can keep him alive for a few months or so he may be able to have a surgery to repair the deformity inside his mouth. Having a cleft palate means that the roof of his mouth which separate his nasal cavity from the inside of his mouth isnt there, or rather there is a very large gap in it.

The kitten I'm currently hand-raising [first time ever doing so, his mom was a stray] looks a LOT like your little one except for the fact that mine's a domestic haha. He also has a cleft palate. He's a month old! This is an old video so I hope your little one is doing okay. It would be really awesome to hear how his surgery goes once he gets it. It's so hard to find much info about these babies.
