I don't see God as a 'him'. If God is male, doesn't that imply there must be a female? I see God as a Cosmic Consciousness that is All-There-Is; and that would make Us All little Pieces of God. In old testament times, people were panthiests. They recognized the gods as powerful super men and women. They recognized Yhwh as just another one of these. They all knew that the Supreme Being was far above these gods. Perhaps Yhwy was Zeus. Or perhaps more than one god was written about in the bible.
