Aldous Huxley: Warning to America (1958)

(annotations "ON" please) Mike Wallace & Aldous Huxley discuss education, democracy, advertising & the future of our cannon fodder (children).

Huxley's family was well connected & this very smart man definitely had an idea of what the future was going to look like. Imagine if he were here now to give his analysis of the shenanigans being used by Fox News, CNN & mainstream media. Imagine what his commentary would be regarding Ronald McDonald & the folks at Disney...what would he have to say about the culture created by the commercial world of MTV, Viacom, Clear Channel, etc... What would he say about the "mook" & "midriff" archetypes thrown out there for today's youth to mimick...degradation of future generations seems to be a theme of the corporate fascist pigs? It's sickening...

Our science fiction writers are so often our prophets. Is It true that aldous huxley was a writers name and his real name was Eric Blair from the Blair family of England. I have read this in a few places.

The United States failed when they administerd lsd experiments on tough guy one sided under-educated soldiers. LSD is a drug for people who are educated or enlightend. It should not be dabbled in by people whos perception is in line with fundemental ideals.

@MattyTheMole Well, sort of. The US military is a hodge-podge of many kinds of people - especially when "the draft" is enacted. George Carlin & JFK we're both in the military. Colin Powell, aside from his "revelations" about WMD, appears very intelligent. Let's just agree that it'd probably best advised by bright individuals...but who can decide on such matters...would you or I want to be deemed "unworthy?" I doubt we will ever for better or worse have one world government. The fracturing forces are just to strong . In a world where teenage Californians want to divide themselves into red people and blue people I don't see how a one world anything could start. We never went down the road of better and more fun drugs. Don't know whether that was better or not. Sexual Freedom seems to have been a good thing. That scared British folks most intensely...

...We're all going to die sooner than need be and in a miserable way and it's because of people like marshallk24 and racists and those who are offended by everything that they see when they turn the corner...and there's nothing the rest of us can do to save ourselves. @scovell7 Exactly. Huxley sat in on the world meetings where it was being planned. When he spoke to his own peer group he sounded more like a cheerleader than the "warning" he's giving here.
