I am Beryl Dillman, wife of William J. Dillman who passed away four years ago in October 2004. His grandfather, Michael Joel Dillman, was a man of great vision. Among many of his business accomplishments was the development in the late 1800's of Pyrmont Brick Company, later named Lincoln Clay Products Company - about one mile outside the city of Lincoln. Clay of varied shades, determined by the age in which it formed, was mined and sold for use in the production of sewer pipe and pottery among a host of other things. Upon Mr. Dillman's death in 1940, his son Michael Joel, Junior, assumed the presidency of the business. After 25 years, the office continued for a short time in the hands of his son, Stanley Joel Dillman. Upon his untimely death, his brother, William Jewett Dillman, my husband, assumed the job and ran the business for 32 years. It had been a family affair. Upon his retirement in 2002, the company was sold to Gladding McBean - also near the city of Lincoln - producers of pipe and art works for buildings all over the U.S. and around the world.
