All the parts have been fitted and the bolts have been torque'd down correctly. Total weight is 13.5kg dry(14.5kg in this video as there is half a tank of fuel).

  • What is an eggmotor and where can one find one? are they kind of generator or what ?

  • @Ebdan88 The Eggmotor is a home-built powered paragliding propulsion unit. It was conceived, designed and built by me as a cheap and simple power unit to achieve flight. It isn't a commercially available machine although several people worldwide have built and flown similar machines using the Eggmotor philosophy as a starting point.

  • do you know a company in the usa that sells these?

  • @Hogasofa Hello, search internet for 'affordablegokarts' 'ARC Racing' and 'NR-Racing'. They sell tuning kits and/or complete tuned engines.

  • Hi, an additional reply to yesterday's never posted for some reason. Anyway, back to your question. The 14cc head is suppose to give about 10.5-1 comp. ratio. 3rd Test Flight with GX160 head gave about 9-1 C/R. To play it safe I will be moving onto super-unleaded although a quick full power test the other day (prior to stripping down for powder-coating) with the remains of standard unleaded seemed fine.

    Cheers,

    Rob.

  • So what is the compression ratio you are running now and how much higher do you intend to go with the 14cc head?

Do you intened this engine to burn regular petrol or will it ( does it already? ) require a higher octane fuel ( or higher still AV fuel ).

  • Hi, I reckon the Superbox kit is a good buy especially when used with a hi-compression head such as a GX160 (18cc) or a milled version of it (14cc) as long as the pilot's weight is as specified (max. ~13st). As peak power will probs be at around 6500rpm and the prop is limiting it to 5000rpm I reckon 15hp (13hp without head upgrade) is about right. I've now got the 14cc head and a timing mod key fitted and so need to test again for a thrust improvement since test flight #3.

    Cheers,

    Rob.

  • I've been watching this for a while now.

What is your impression of the Super Box kit now that you have flown it a few times.

Is it making the power you need and do you feel its making the 15 peak HP they claimed?

  • Also, my GX160 head didn't have smaller valves compared to the 200's head so I don't know where you got that 'fact' from???

    Rob.

  • Hello carharttFbco, my particular requirement is to produce just enough thrust to achieve flight and for as little cost as possible. 14hp is all I need. Plus, reliability is a major concern too. I've checked out the USA sites and parts available for +20hp but I really don't need that much power/expense. My DIY paramotor site is for people who can't afford and/or don't want to spend £3000-£4000 on a commercial paramotor. Many thanks for your input,

    Rob.
