INSTEAD OF HAVING 2-3 cages, plus a couple of play yards on the patio, Daddy wanted to make one big cage / playyard for the 4 cockatiels and lovebird.

So, some wood, aluminum, screws, some sheet pvc, and a lot of INGINUITY, Daddy just finished building this awesome cage/play yard for the cockatiels and lovebird.

I incorporated all the branches, toys, food bowls, swings, and such today.

They love it. - Keiko even got a kick out of it. He's not in this video, but was in the cage earlier, checking it all out.

  • hi i was wondering what the plastic cube was called and for what animals it is usually used for, haha and where i can get some? i would love to get some for my cockatiels... i absolutely love your set up.. i just built my cockatiels a 6 foot tall, 4 foot in length, and 3 foot wide cage for in the house.. and am needing some more stuff to put in it.. you can email me at xtaysea@live.ca looking forward to talking to you!! :)

  • @xtaysea Hi, if you are talking about the little plastic 'block house' on the bottom of the cage - it's actually sold in the small animal section of pet stores. They are called block houses and can be used for hamsters, guinea pigs, and, of course, as I did ----- a shelter for food so the poop don't fall in it.

  • there tamed right?

  • @tambaz1 UHH - yep

  • i love this cage! what a clever design and snuggie! congrats! anyways what type of wood and mesh did you use??? please reply back! thank you

  • @makerpsychodude1000 The wood is pine and the mesh is what they call galvanized hardware cloth.

  • @ScootKr3w ahhhhhh! it was signed into my brothers account not mine! so what ever i said on that comment is what i said here. sorry!

  • Awww! Birdies! You are so lucky! I need some advice on how to make a big bird cage for my budgies! It is only one foot wide and on foot tall please help it is horrible to have my birds in small cage! HELP!

  • Oh man why Hippie Style? D:

  • Galvanized "after" weld wire is safe for birds. Regular Galvanized is OK for rabbit/chicken enclosures but very toxic, especially when little beaks for climbing & sometimes pick & sometimes swallow the zinc globs. It's the zinc that is especially toxic. Love your great cage ideas.

  • wow nice. i am still hoping my husbby will make one like than for me! i have 8 cockatiels and three lovebirds!

  • You have to watch using Wire Metal clothes hangers most are made of brass which is toxic to birds. Also all galvanized metal is toxic to birds- there is absolutely no way to remove the zinc from it. no matter what the internet says! you can not neutralize it with vinegar and water- and just because there is a coating over it (like with most aviary mesh) they'd chew through the mesh and get to the wire. it is safer to buy an appropriate bird cage for birds

  • i love that cage!! what kind of wood and wire did you use? and where did you buy it? i want to make something bigger and better for my lovie:) thanks
