This is a short tour of the Upper Missouri River and Lake Sakakawea in North Dakota. I shot this footage about 4 years ago for a work project.

  • Very beautiful, thanks for posting!

  • Thank you for posting this. My brother-in-law and I canoed up the Missouri from just east of Fairview to the confluence. Yes, I know it was just a couple of hours, but at least I can say I've canoed that length of the river. I cannot express how absolutely breathtaking it was to see Fort Union rise up out of the prairie as we rounded a bend. Truly spectacular. I owe it all to my brother for loaning us his canoe and showing us where best to start.

  • How I miss this river. I grew up in Mandan and on this river. The meadowlark song, the chokecherries, the walleyes caught from shore. The best memories.

  • I was the video specialist with Corps 2 during the bicentennial. Your video brought back some cool memories. As I was shooting the launch of the boats from Ft. Mandan a bald eagle came flying done the shoreline and hovered over the boats, then continued upstream as if to welcome us.

  • This is really a lovely video. I've made it the featured choice for North Dakota on Travercial. Thanks so much for posting.

  • thanks for putting this on i used to live in New Town and williston and i used to love going up on Crow Flies High!
