No matter Sampson is gay or not, he is just expressing his extreme fondness for Maxwell as a singer and as a person. You don't have to agree to the extreme of condoning his sexual orientation which ultimately led to his lifestyle choice. Those comments that were coming from a so-call Christian woman were TERRIBLE and HURTFULL. No wonder gay people feel uncomfortable trying to seek Salvation and the Word of the Lord! Look at how many "straight" people abort their children and sleep around.
